Laser Teeth Whitening

A smile can brighten anyone’s day. But if you want to brighten your own smile, Teeth Whitening is the way to go. There are various ways to whiten the teeth, but the optimal method today is Laser Teeth Whitening.

Drawbacks of Conventional Teeth Whitening

Traditional teeth whitening involves using bleaching chemicals on the teeth. These chemicals peel away stained layers of enamel in order to expose the white enamel beneath. Both over-the-counter and more specialized treatments are available. The primary drawback of this method is that it takes a long time – up to six to eight weeks for some take-home treatments.
Additionally, while these chemicals are typically safe, using them over such a long period of time without any supervision can lead to issues such as enamel damage or nerve damage.

How Does Laser Teeth Whitening Work?

Laser Teeth Whitening is a modern method that involves the use of a whitening chemical and an Argon, KTP or Neodymium YAG laser.
The procedure is simple: First, the dentist covers the gums and applies a whitening gel on the teeth. This gel has the same effect as the substances used in other teeth-whiteners. However, it is much stronger. In order to avoid damage to the mouth, this gel only works at a high temperature.
The laser is used to ‘activate’ the gel by heating it up. The dentist will ensure that the gel is heated up evenly and that it does not cause damage. After about an hour, the results are noticeable.

How much does the treatment cost?

You can reasonably expect to pay between 1400-1800 shekels for laser teeth whitening treatment. The cost is affected by a lot of factors.

  • How discoloured the teeth are before treatment
  • The reason for the discolouration e.g. certain antibiotics
  • The motivation ,expectations and cooperation of the patient

Keep in mind that this treatment will not be covered by dental insurance, since it is cosmetic.
